Black Student Success Scholarship

The Black Student Success Scholarship is an annual initiative to support talented and ambitious students with financial support for college.

Kaiya Thompson

Kaiya is a rising freshman at Temple University who will major in Architecture, combining her skills in math and passion for art. Before graduating from high school, she took the initiative to help other students as an independent SAT tutor, and was also the captain of her track and field team. Kaiya has also channeled her creative side into a crocheting business where she makes emotional support plushies and cat hats. She hopes to continue growing her business as she starts her college journey.

Bria Nartey

Bria is a rising sophomore at Howard University who is studying Political Science and is very involved on her campus. This includes the Black Girl’s Vote organization as the PR Chair and a member of the Harriet Tubman Quadrangle Council where she supports the needs of her fellow classmates in the dormitories. Bria is also the founder of her high school’s Black Student Union and continues to serve as advisor to keep the organization going strong.

Hashon Mitchell

Congratulations to our 2022 winner, Hashon Milton from Bronx, NY! Hashon not only exhibited Black excellence through his academic progress and leadership, but also his passion for art and desire to create opportunities through his art. Hashon will attend Carnegie Mellon University this fall and study within the Social and Decision Sciences department as an undeclared student, allowing him to explore his interests. We are honored to award him the scholarship and wish him the best of luck and success on his upcoming journey!

 

Aya Settles

Aya Settles is an exceptional student who is active in her community, including Girl Scouts, Jack and Jill of America, and the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Institute. She is also a proud business owner of iSeeMe.Love, a workshop program that promotes positive self-esteem among teen and tween girls. She is a proud Spelman College student, majoring in Business.
